Picking the best plumber for you

Do you need a plumber in a pinch? Maybe you have a leaky faucet or a clogged drain? Before you pick up the yellow pages and just call any random business, you should do some research to ensure that you are picking the best man for the job. Here are three things to consider when selecting a plumber.

Experience: When looking through your plumbing options, you want to look for companies that brag about being in business for a long time. Plumbers that have a lot of experience will normally brag about this fact right in their ad or on their website. This isn’t to say that a less experienced plumber couldn’t do the job, but if someone has been around for a long time, you know they must know what they’re doing.

Customer Reviews: Perhaps even more important than the length of service for a plumber is the amount of positive feedback the plumber has received from customers. There are plenty of websites online that allow the average person to write reviews for individual plumbers. Try typing the name of your city followed by “plumbers review” into Google and you will likely receive some hits. If a company has received a lot of positive reviews, they might even post some of these reviews on the company website.

Value: The value of a good plumber can be hard to measure. But here are some tips on things you should look for. Do you have a set budget for the job that needs to be done? Figure out what the plumber’s hourly rate is and then ask if the plumber could do the job in the amount of time needed to fit your budget. Some plumbers who run their own business might be willing to negotiate with you on their price. Tell them up front that you can only spend a certain amount of money and see if they can do anything to accommodate you. Usually, a plumber that is willing to go an extra mile for a customer is one who will excel at the actual job as well.
