Indoor Air Quality

Impurities in indoor air

The quality of indoor air can be as bad as the air outside. Ignoring it for too long can have adverse effects on the entire family’s health, especially the children. Data released by EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) reveals that indoor air can be 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air outside. In fact, EPA reckons air pollutants inside the house are one of the top five environmental risks to human health. This is a major reason why air purification is immensely important.

Types of impurities

Indoor is filled with a number of impurities, including VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), bacteria, smoke, dust, pollen and your pet’s hair. It is critical that these impurities are removed. Breathing in any of these is hazardous. Since most of these aren’t visible to the naked eye, it might seem that everything is fine. An air quality test will reveal the truth.

Climate constraints

Here in North Aurora most parts of the year we keep windows and doors shut to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the house. This also results in stale air being trapped inside the house and air pollutants forming.

Health risks

The health risks associated with poor quality of air inside the house is applicable to all, but especially for those with weaker immune systems, like the elderly and the children. Those with asthma and dust allergies can also suffer a lot.

Air quality test

Hiring a professional HVAC service is the ideal step. They can provide air balancing, humidity management and allergen filtration services, which will ensure that all air pollutants are removed. An initial air quality test is also a good idea.
